"Water, being State subject , under National Water Quality Monitoring Programme (NWMP) in association with the State Pollution Control Boards (SPCBs) in the States/ Pollution Control Committees (PCCs) in Union Territories, the water quality assessment is carried out with an objective of assessing the impact of possible sources of pollution on water quality of recipient water bodies as per Guidelines for Water Quality Monitoring , 2017 issued by MoEF & CC and based on the sites selected as per criteria for identification of monitoring locations prescribed by CPCB . For clarifications on the water quality related aspects clarifications may be sought from the respective SPCB/PCC".
