Activities of WQM-II
Water Quality Management Division-II, at Head office (Delhi) have team of well qualified and experienced environmental scientists, engineers, project associates, bio-technologists, botanists, bio-monitoring experts, GIS and remote sensing experts as well as data analysts that carry out the following activities pertaining to pollution control and solid waste management programs of River Ganga and its tributaries:
- Manual Water Quality Monitoring with SPCBs on fortnightly/monthly/bi-annually basis.
- Manual Water Quality Monitoring on special occasions such as Kumbhmela, Magh mela etc.
- Co-ordination with Regional Directorates, MoEF& CC, NMCG, SPCBs, SPMGs, ULBs and other stake holders.
- Compliance verification, legal/court and parliament matters, public complaints, RTIs regarding grossly polluting industries (Distillery, Sugar, Tannery, Textile Processing, Pulp & Paper, Chemicals & others).
- Issue directions for compliance to grossly polluting industries; ULBs; SPCBs, operating agencies of CETPs and STPs in main stem of River Ganga and its tributaries.
