Right to Information Act 2005 mandates timely response to citizen requests for government information. The basic object of the Right to Information Act is to empower the citizens, promote transparency and accountability in the working of the Government, contain corruption, and make our democracy work for the people in real sense. Online RTI Portal
A web portal namely, RTI online having url: https//rtionline.gov.in developed by NIC/DoPT was launched in all ministries and departments of GOI w.e.f 21.08.2013. This facilitates Indian Citizens to file online RTI applications and appeals with online payment facility. This facility (Online RTI Portal) has been extended to CPCB w.e.f. 01.07.2016.
