Central Pollution Control Board has developed a 40 minutes video film on bio-medical waste management in order to generate awareness about the safe management of bio-medical waste. The film includes all aspects of bio-medical waste management i.e. segregation, packaging, storage, transportation, treatment and disposal vis the regulatory requirements under the Bio-medical Waste (Management & handling) Rules, 1998 and amendments thereof notified under the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986. The film has been developed in association with the Govt. Medical College, Jammu, through engagement of the firm M/s Medical Communication Network, New Delhi.
The film was released by the Hon'ble Union Minister of Environment & Forests, Govt. of India - Thiru A. Raja, on January 06, 2006 at the 52nd Conference of the Chairperson and Member Secretary of Pollution Control Boards/ Committees in Mumbai.
The film would be useful in imparting training to all those concerned directly or indirectly with generation and management of bio-medical waste.
